ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE MASTERCLASS

Prepare for 2025 with SCIS updates and a free self-paced AI course for educators from the Digital Technologies Hub (dthub.edu.au), funded by the Australian Government and operated by Education Services Australia. The course begins with three general AI modules before branching into primary or secondary-specific content, covering responsible AI use, societal impacts, and AI solution design.

Presenters include Martin Richards, a former primary teacher and DT Hub Content Manager with extensive Australian Curriculum knowledge who developed the Hub’s AI resources, and Renate Beilharz, a passionate teacher librarian with SCIS since 2018 who ensures schools receive quality data for student information discovery.

Making SHIFT Happen

When teaching AI literacy, the team at Santa Maria College, Perth, Amanda Crossley and Amy Hollingsworth created “SHIFT”. Adapting the internet search skills model, SIFT, to include an “H” for the Hallucinations that AI can produce and covering the critical thinking skills required to evaluate AI output.

Co-presenters, Amy and Amanda are innovative teacher librarians (and recipients of the SLAV Innovators award in 2022), dedicated to teaching students what they need to know in this evolving information, digital and AI landscape.

Time will be allocated at the end of the session for questions and discussion.
